Agneepath Protest: Protests have started across India since the launch of Agneepath Recruitment Scheme by the Narendra Modi government a few days back. In some places these protests have also turned violent. In Bihar, protesters have allegedly attacked the houses of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi and Bihar BJP President and West Champaran MP Sanjay Jaiswal. At the same time, the violence against the Agneepath scheme shook the Secunderabad railway station as hundreds of youths set a train on fire and ransacked the station. Protesters ransacked the station, set the East Coast Express, stalls and other railway property on fire.

Protests are also continuing in some parts of Uttar Pradesh. In Ballia too, youths attacked trains and set fire to train coaches. Protesters are also sitting on the tracks to disrupt train services.

Meanwhile, the government is also being criticized by the opposition. While Rahul Gandhi has already slammed the current government for failing to understand the pulse of the country, Olympic medalist and boxer Vijender Singh has now joined the chorus in a series of tweets. Vijender tweeted a picture of a Haryana youth who allegedly committed suicide after the launch of the Agneepath scheme. Vijender sent another tweet, in which he demanded the retirement of MLAs and MPs after serving 2 years. He also demanded a suspension of his pension after two years. Vijender sarcastically asked the government to take the name of the same Sadanveer.

At the same time, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has asked them to take ownership of the ‘reckless decision’. Owaisi, through his Twitter account, said that the PM should stop hiding behind military chiefs and show courage to take ownership of the reckless decision and face the consequences. He said that the anger of the youth of the country about their future is towards him.
