Ashish Nehra gave a big statement on the selection of Dinesh Karthik in T20 World Cup
India’s wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik returned to the national team after three years. Karthik has been given the new role of finishing the match which he was doing with his new IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. On Friday, Karthik scored a half-century to help India post a respectable score in Rajkot. With that fifty he became the oldest cricketer in India to score a fifty in the shortest format of the game. After his inspiring return to Team India, cricket experts all over the world went crazy for him.

Former India cricketer Ashish Nehra feels that Dinesh Karthik has already booked his place in India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 to be played in Australia. “He has already booked his place in the T20 World Cup squad. He scored 55 runs at a strike rate of 200,” Nehra said on Cricbuzz’s show.
In the fourth T20I, from 81/4 in 12.5 overs, Karthik hit nine fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 203.7 to get India out of trouble. He was also involved in a crucial stand-off with Hardik Pandya of 65 off 33 balls as India beat South Africa by 82 runs to take the series to a cracking final in Bengaluru on Sunday.
“Today (Friday) he batted at No. 6, which I liked, and the fact that he scored a half-century… his innings was long and he got to bat first in the game… so these are the expectations you have One of your most experienced players that you have brought back in the team,” Nehra said.
“Yes, he scores runs in the last 3-4 overs, but experience means he knows a lot more. The selectors and the team management should all be happy. The knock will definitely give him confidence and move on.” ” This whole thing about the impact on that batting position… you have the experience of Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and then Karthik. He is the kind of player who can help you chase even 200 in Australia,” said the former India pacer.
The fifth and final T20I, which is also the decider of the series, will be played in Bengaluru on Sunday.
