Ashton Kutcher backs wife Mila Kunis’s home nation, UkraineAuthor: Yuvi February 27, 2022
Washington: Ashton Kutcher is increasing his solidarity with Ukraine after Russia’s military operations. According to People Magazine, Kutcher’s wife and 38-year-old actor Mila Kunis was born and raised in Chernivtsi, Ukraine until the age of 7.
The 44-year-old “That ’70s Show” alum showed support for his wife’s country of origin amid the ongoing crisis.
“I stand with Ukraine,” Kutcher posted on Twitter, before retweeting a photo of Ukraine’s flag. The actor’s statement comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday announced a military operation in Ukraine and warned other countries that any attempt to interfere with Russian action would have “never seen” consequences.
During an interview with The Los Angeles Times in 2008, Kunis revealed that she and her family fled the country and immigrated to the United States “at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union”. “It was very communist, and my parents wanted my brother and I to have a future, and so they dropped everything,” Kunis explained.
“They came up with 250 USD.” She said she “adjusted fairly quickly and fairly well” to life in the States. However, the ‘Bad Moms’ star admitted that she “completely blocked the second class” because of the initial struggle.
“I cried every day,” she said. “I didn’t understand the people. I didn’t understand the language.”
Following Russia’s military operations, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have also shown their support for Ukraine by helping refugees fleeing their homes to safety.
The couple pledged to match donations as they encouraged their followers to pitch in and help Ukrainians displaced by the ongoing conflict.
