The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced a hike in the monthly pension of former cricketers (both men and women) and former umpires. Former India captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that it is very important for the cricket board to take care of the financial condition of our former cricketers and umpires.

“It is of the utmost importance that the financial well-being of our former cricketers is taken care of. Players remain the lifeline and as a board, it is our duty once their playing days are over. The umpires have been The unsung heroes and BCCI really value their contribution.”

“The welfare of our cricketers, be it past or present, is a top priority, and increasing the pension amount is a step in that direction. BCCI values ​​the contribution of umpires over the years and it is a way of expressing gratitude to them. Diligent services for cricket. A total of around 900 personnel will get the benefit of the scheme, with more than 75 per cent beneficiaries getting a 100 per cent increase,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said.

BCCI Treasurer Arun said, “BCCI is what it is today, it is because of the contribution of its former cricketers and umpires. We are happy to announce the increase in monthly pension which is a sign for the well being of our former cricketers. Will happen.” Singh Dhumal said.

Meanwhile, according to sources in the ongoing e-auction, the IPL media rights value for the 2023-2027 cycle has been sold on Monday for Rs 44,075 crore for 410 matches. As per the latest information with ANI, Package A of TV is sold for Rs 23,575 crore which is Rs 57.5 crore per match and Package B of Digital Rights for India is sold for Rs 20,500 crore or Rs 50 crore per match. Whose bid is yet to come but the TV and digital rights value per match is Rs 107.5 crore.

According to ANI sources, two media houses have won the bid, one for TV and the other for digital. The media rights value has increased by more than two and a half times as compared to what Star India paid in 2017.
