Congress leader Rahul Gandhi says every institution in India is under the control of BJP-RSS

Days after opposition parties termed the Supreme Court’s decision in the PMLA case as a “dangerous verdict”, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said “all institutions in India are under the control of the BJP and the RSS”. When asked about the Supreme Court, he said, “Saare ke sare. Ek nahi bacha hai. Saare ke sare (All without exception. All).

On why the opposition is not able to put pressure on the government on issues like inflation, Rahul Gandhi said that the opposition fights with the help of institutions in a democracy. The legal structure of the country…Judicial structure, the country’s electoral structure, the media, the opposition are standing on their own. All those organizations are supporting the government today because the government has filled these institutions with its people. No institution is independent in India today. Every institution in India today is under the control of RSS… so we are not fighting against any political party… we are fighting against the entire infrastructure of India…”

On BJP’s claim that it is winning elections again and again, he said, “Hitler also came to power by winning elections. Hitler also used to win elections. And how did he win the election? Because the institutions of Germany were in his hands. He had SAs, paramilitary forces, he had a complete set-up. Give me the complete structure and I will show you how the election is won,” he said.

“When we were in power, infrastructure used to be neutral. We never used to control the infrastructure… Today all the infrastructure is with the government. Financial infrastructure…if anyone wants to support any other political party…ED, CBI goes after them. They are forcefully threatened. So BJP/RSS have financial monopoly and monopoly of institutions. So the opposition is doing it effectively…aggressively…. But the effect that should have been there has not been seen.

Asked whether he had any foreshadowing of his or Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s arrest in the National Herald case, he said, “You do whatever you want to do.” It does not make a difference that. It does not matter. You have to understand this. You have to understand the culture I come from. It does not matter. I’ll be the happiest person.”
