New Delhi: In an unexpected move, Kangana Ranaut on Saturday (February 26) left a cryptic post on Instagram praising Alia Bhatt’s magnum opus ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and its director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Even though he did not mention the film, he indicated it in his post. He credited the film for improving the condition of cinema halls affected by the pandemic and bringing people back on the big screen.
She wrote, “Glad to hear that cinemas are being revived in the South film industry with record breaking collections. I have heard that some small steps are being taken in the Hindi belt as well. Recently with a female centric film Which has a big hero and a super star director. They may be small steps but they are not insignificant. They will be important for theaters that are here on ventilators. Great.”

Earlier, Kangana had criticized the film even before its release. He wrote on Instagram ahead of the film’s release, “200 crores will burn to ashes at the box office this Friday… for Ek papa (film mafia daddy) ki Pari (who likes to keep British passport) because papa wants Let’s prove that Romcom Bimbo can act…”
Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi released in theaters on February 25 and is receiving good reviews from fans and critics alike. B-Town has also praised Alia’s career-defining performance and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s amazing direction.
The box office collection on the first day of the film was also nothing short of phenomenal. According to Boxofficeindia.com, the film has an opening of 10 crores on the first day and the collection of the first day in Mumbai can reach the collection of Ranveer Singh’s ’83’.
