Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCP) on Wednesday (June 23) filed draft charges against actress Riya Chakraborty, her brother Shoaib and others in a special court in connection with the drug case involving the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Special public prosecutor Atul Sarbande said the prosecution was retaining the charges against all the accused, as stated in the indictment filed in the court. The prosecution had proposed in court that Riya and Shoaik should be charged with possession of drugs and purchase and payment of such items to the deceased actor Rajput.
Sarbande said the court plans to file a chargesheet against all those charged. However, some of the accused were unable to do so as they moved the discharge applications. The court said the charges would be registered only after a decision is taken on the release petitions. All of the accused, including Rhea and Shoving, appeared in court on Wednesday.
Special Judge Viji Raghuvanshi adjourned the case till July 12.
Riya Chakraborty and her brother Shok are currently out on bail in a drug case
Emperor Rhea was arrested in September 2020 in this case. He was granted bail by the Bombay High Court a month after his arrest. Besides Riya, his brother Shok Emperor and others have been charged in a case of alleged drug use, possession and aiding and abetting. Most of them are out on bail.
