Gangubai Kathiawadi celeb review: Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal are shocked by Alia Bhatt’s ‘talent’

New Delhi: Alia Bhatt’s much-awaited magnum opus ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ releases in cinemas on Friday, February 25. As part of a special screening on Wednesday (February 23), B-town celebs got a chance to see Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia. Glad to see Bhatt’s magic on screen and the film as per the reviews she got on Instagram.

Several celebs like Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Riddhima Kapoor and director Shashank Khaitan showered love on the film by posting their post-film thoughts on Instagram.

Vicky Kaushal wrote, “Absolutely shaken by the stupendous talent displayed in this film. SLB sir you are a master! And @aliabhatt doesn’t even know what to say about you… Breathtakingly amazing as Gangu! Salute. Don’t miss the big screen cinema magic.”

Janhvi Kapoor wrote, “You are the definition of genius. Craft and finesse and unparalleled levels of heart and soul. As Gangubai you are nothing short of cinematic magic.”

Director Shashank Khaitan told his Instagram followers, “Please book your tickets, and watch Gangubai at a theater near you to witness the sheer brilliance of Alia Bhatt, wealth, good sense and tons of talent – this girl has. That’s all).”

Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor wrote, “When two living legends come together and create magic #sanjayleelabhansali #aliabhatt What a great film! Brilliant performance! @aliabhatt you nailed it.”

Finally, Riteish Deshmukh wrote on Twitter, “Watched #GangubaiKathiawadi last night!!! Another magical experience.. #SanjayLeelaBhansali is an absolute master storyteller. The film is adapted from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about Ganga Harjivandas, an ordinary girl from Kathiawar.

The trailer of Gangubai Kathiawadi takes us into the life of Gangubai played by Alia Bhatt. The grand saga of SLB is set in the early ’60s and features the leading lady as a brothel owner and matriarch.
