Haryana Grande’s Emmy Award-winning melody ‘Hairspray Live!’ Soon Indian TV
New Delhi: Zee Theater, in line with its certification to handle quality content worldwide for Indian audiences, is now offering ‘Hairspray Live!’ For Indian television. The live version of the show is set to premiere on June 26 at 2pm and 8pm at the Tataplay Theater, respectively. It was viewed by more than nine million viewers and won three Emmy Awards in 2016.
‘Hairspray’ is a celebration of human energy and the story of a happy protest against racial inequality and discrimination and has been adapted many times on the big screen and stage. The musical won hearts everywhere, giving a strong and important message everywhere. With two superhit movie releases in 1988 and 2007 and several Tony-hit Broadway songs in 2002, the story continues to resonate for generations. Also, in 2008, another product in the West End of London won 4 Oliviers.
‘Hairspray Live!’ You’ll be back in Baltimore in the 60’s, where you meet Tracy Turnblad, a small town girl who attended a TV dance show and was successful overnight. Moreover, it shows how he deals with the inequality he sees in his sudden popularity and entertainment world. The music is directed by Kenny Leone and composed by Mark Simon and Scott Whitman, featuring a dream cast including marquee names like superstar Haryana Gronde and EGOD winner Jennifer Hudson.

The show’s star cast includes playwright and voice actor Harvey Fierstein, Edna Turnplot, Tony-winning actress and singer, Christine Zenoweth, Disney actress Dow Cameron and comedian Martin Short.
