Maharashtra’s second State Cluster University, HSNC University, Mumbai on Saturday conferred Honorary D.Litt. For the renowned industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata at a special convocation held at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan. Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Governor of Maharashtra and the Chancellor of the University, presented the degree to Mr. Tata.
“The University believes that Ratan Tata embodies the philosophy of development, education and upliftment of all, which also resonates with the vision of HSNC University, Mumbai. Thus, appreciation of his unparalleled contribution to the society As such, the university awarded him its first honorary degree,” said a statement.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Tata said, “I am humbled to receive such an honour. This university has been formed to prepare youth with the ability to lead our country with integrity, purpose, responsibility in the coming future. I am grateful to have received an honorary degree from the university, it means a lot to me”.
