I was ready to act as a horse in the film if Mani sir wanted,' says 'BS-1' actor Karthi.

Mumbai: Indian actor Karthik Sivakumar, professionally known as Karthi, is a name that needs no introduction. The actor, who was recently seen in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus “Ponniin Selvan: Part 1”, considers the director his mentor and was ready to accept any role – even as a horse – in the film as he didn’t want to. I lost the opportunity to work with a director known for many films like `Roja’, `Bombay’, `Guru’ and `Yuva’.

She shared her thoughts on “Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1” and her acting: “The name ‘Ponniyan Selvan’ has a huge identity with the diaspora Tamil people. People own the novel (film writer Kalki’s best-selling novel of the same name) and its characters.” resonated. The particular book has been relevant for a long time, still has a huge fan base and is a bestseller through fairs every year.”

He went on to say, “It was elusive because the big film industry wanted to make it into a film. Finally, Mani Ratnam completed the work. I got a call from Mani sir saying that he wanted to meet me and that he likes me. I went to his office and asked him to act in this film. Only then would he offer me the role of Vandiyathevan. Who can deny? He is my Guru.”

Speaking to IMDb, the actor also said about his blockbuster film “Kaithi”: “Kaithi’ is definitely one of the most important films in my career. It came to me as a small idea, but the moment I heard it, I knew it was a big action film. To shape the main character, Dilli We did a lot of research, and since he’s become the savior of the Guardians, I think his look should be as simple and humble as possible.

He added: “We learned from our research that prisoners don’t like to be noticed, so they never look the person in the eye and talk. Because they were born between walls, their only contact with nature is the sky.”

Recalling his character Dilli’s viral eating scene in Kaaiti, he added: “I think he had to eat only sambar rice for 10 years for three meals. When he finally had biryani, it became an icon. The action, dance, direction, music and emotional aspects of the film made Kaaati unforgettable.” changed, I am very happy that it turned out like that. We can say that the sequel is still awaited. We will start shooting next year.”
