IND vs SA, 2nd T20I: Former cricketer points to great flow under Pant’s captaincy
India’s newly-appointed captain for the five-match T20I series, Rishabh Pant has received a lot of criticism from cricket experts across the world for taking poor decisions in the first two matches as captain of the Indian cricket team. Team India has lost both their matches against Proteas in the series so far. It is not the defeat that frustrates the cricket pundits but it is the questionable decision. In the first T20I, India’s premier spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bowled just 13 deliveries in the innings and was asked to bowl the last over of the match when the game was almost over.
South Africa won the second T20I by 4 wickets and are now 2-0 up in the five-match series.

In the second T20I, Pant made another mistake in which he bowled just one over to Axar Patel, even when there were two right-handed batsmen at the crease. Hardik Pandya, who was not bowling well, was asked to bowl three overs where he conceded runs at an economy of more than 10. Criticizing Pant’s captaincy, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer said that when the game comes to a close, Pant gets nervous.
Jaffer said, ‘Yes, we saw something similar in the IPL as well. I think the more captain he is, the better he will get. But, yes, at this stage, I think when the match gets tough, he gets a little nervous. Said on the show of ESPNcricinfo.
Earlier, former India cricketer Ashish Nehra had also said that Pant is using his bowlers less. “Change in the playing XI depends on the conditions in Vizag. Rishabh Pant also needs to be seen. He held Axar Patel for so long. There were two right-handed batsmen at that time. I don’t see any reason. At that point of time. An over was not given to Axar Patel,” Nehra said on Cricbuzz.
