Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah on Monday (May 10) registered his best T20 bowling figures.

The pacer achieved the feat during their IPL 2022 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders, where he took five wickets and finished with figures of 5/10 at the end of his four-over spell. It was also the fifth best bowling figure of the IPL.

The best bowling record in IPL is held by Gujarat Titans pacer Alzarri Joseph in 2019 with figures of 6/12, while Sohail Tanvir of Pakistan is second on the list with 6/14 in 2008. Australia’s Adam Zampa with 6/19 in 2016 and India’s Anil Kumble with 5/5 in 2009.

Coming into the match, Bumrah’s five-wicket haul was undone by the clinical Kolkata Knight Riders as they beat Mumbai Indians by 52 runs in their IPL 2022 match at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy on Monday.

Batting first, Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana scored 43-43 for Kolkata and 23 not out by Rinku Singh to guide KKR to a respectable total of 165/9. For Mumbai, Bumrah took five while Kumar Karthikeya took two wickets.

Pat Cummins, on the other hand, picked up three wickets in an over to derail MI’s hopes while Andre Russell picked up two wickets to propel KKR to an easy 52-run victory.

This is the ninth defeat for Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians in the ongoing 15th edition of the IPL. While his 5th win in 12 matches for Kolkata has kept his 2022 campaign alive.
