The ten franchises will also get a huge boost in terms of revenue, with BCCI earning massively in the next five-year cycle of the Indian Premier League from the sale of media rights. The BCCI is set to garner over Rs 48,000 crore in the 2023-2027 cycle, which is more than three times what it paid to Star Sports Network in the previous deal, which was valued at Rs 16,000 crore. Not to be forgotten, ten franchises account for half of BCCI’s revenue from media rights, ie 50 percent of the amount is shared between the franchises. This is done in accordance with the agreement between the BCCI and the franchise which states that 50% of the revenue from media and sponsorship is distributed among the franchises.

According to a report by InsideSport, the ten franchises earned a total of Rs 201.65 crore from media rights revenue. But in the next year i.e. 2023, the revenue will touch the figure of Rs 400 crore. It will not just stop here but will continue to grow. In 2025, the revenue is expected to be close to Rs. 500 crores. Whereas in the last year of the cycle, i.e. 2027, media rights revenue may touch Rs. 550 crore figure
