Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 champions Lahore Qalandars presented their captain Shaheen Shah Afridi with the franchise as a new car gift for his achievements. Lahore Qalandars on Monday (June 13) organized an event rewarding Afridi with gifts and CEO Atif Rana. Qalandars had a disappointing start in the Pakistan Super League as they finished last in the PSL standings for four consecutive seasons. However, the franchise bounced back in the 2022 season by winning their maiden PSL title under his leadership. The 22-year-old has not only been impressive for his PSL franchise in the 2022 season but has also impressed with his performances for the national side.
“Shaheen started his career with us, and we believed in him and decided to give him the captaincy of Lahore Qalandars because we knew deeply about Shaheen’s passion and believed in him very well. Can lead the team, and everyone saw the results. This, so we thank them for their performance,” Rana said at the event.
A token of appreciation to our CAPTAIN QALANDAR @iShaheenAfridi.
Thanks for being such a fine example of how talent pays off with great effort.
Keep up the great work guys !!
After receiving the gift and attending the event organized for him, Shaheen Shah Afridi said, “I have always felt proud to have played for my team, everyone here supported me, and captained Lahore Qalandars from the emerging category.” Till now, it’s all because of your support, so thank you very much.”
Afridi joined Lahore Qalandars in 2018 at the very young age of 18 and it has been a good journey for the left-arm pacer since then. Shaheen won the ICC Men’s Player of the Year award earlier this year. He has taken 78 wickets in 36 games at an impressive average of 22.20, making him the youngest player to be awarded the Sir Garfield Trophy.
