Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will have to postpone their revenge against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) till next season after RCB failed to secure a place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 playoffs. In their last league match, LSG, who had already qualified for the playoffs, were outclassed by Gujarat Titans (GT). Meanwhile, RCB suffered yet another disappointing exit from the IPL as Shubman Gill’s brilliant century handed the visitors a memorable win at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

With RCB’s heartbreaking exit, Mumbai Indians (MI), who have won the IPL multiple times, secured the fourth position in the final league standings and advanced to the playoffs. Reflecting on the intense rivalry between Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir, the official social media handles of the LSG franchise posted a message for RCB. After GT beat RCB by 6 wickets in the last league game, LSG tweeted, “Give? Take? Let’s leave.

Give? take it? leave it. ,

Well fought, @RCBTweets. See you in the next season. _ — Lucknow Super Giants (@LucknowIPL) May 21, 2023

It is noteworthy that Kohli took a dig at Gambhir and LSG after RCB’s win in the first match of the IPL 2023 season. Kohli’s post-match brawls with Gambhir, Naveen-ul-Haq and Kyle Mayers sparked a controversy in Indian cricket. Kohli and Gambhir were later fined 100 per cent of their match fees for breaching the IPL’s code of conduct.

While Gambhir’s LSG made it to the playoffs, RCB finished sixth in IPL 2023 following a loss against table-topping Gujarat Titans. Kohli, in match number 70 of IPL 2023, surpassed Chris Gayle’s century record with a brilliant 101 against GT. The 34-year-old scored 639 runs in 14 matches for RCB this season.

Lucknow Super Giants will take on five-time tournament winners Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator of IPL 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday.
