Martyrs’ Day Shaheed Diwas News: Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 1948 while leaving Birla House after evening prayers. India observes Martyrs’ Day or “Shaheed Diwas” every year on 30th January to honor the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and to honor the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice as freedom fighters to protect their motherland.
