Maruti Suzuki unveils 'New Age Baleno', priced at ₹6.35 lakh

New car set to re-energize the premium hatchback segment with many first-in-segment features: MD

Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday unveiled an all-new variant of its popular premium hatchback Baleno, priced at Rs 6.35-9.49 lakh.

Baleno has been a game changer model for Maruti Suzuki. It is one of the top five best-selling cars in the industry since its launch,” said Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

“With a focus on technology and innovation, the New Age Baleno is poised to re-energize the premium hatchback segment with several first-in-segment features,” said Mr. Ayukawa.

He said that along with its suppliers, the company had invested over Rs 1,150 crore in this complete model transformation.

The new model comes in manual as well as Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission options, giving mileage of 22.35 kmpl and 22.94 kmpl respectively.

Among other things, the new edge Baleno will come with a first in its segment head up display that will allow customers to drive with 360 view without taking their eyes off the road by displaying information like speed, rpm and fuel economy. Camera and 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system. It is powered by an advanced K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine and delivers [email protected],400rpm torque and [email protected],000rpm peak power. It is also equipped with six airbags, ESP and hill hold assist.

On the demand scenario, Mr. Ayukawa said, “If we leave out the supply side issues, the demand in the market looks promising. Our customers, our patrons are rewarding us with healthy bookings. Even today we have around 2.7 lakhs. There are bookings.” He said that the company is making every effort to meet this demand at the earliest.

“The domestic passenger vehicle sales in the first 10 months of this financial year stood at 24 lakh units as compared to 20 lakh units last year. Though this growth is at last year’s low base, we think the momentum will continue,” he said.
