MUMBAI: Actor Pankaj Tripathi says he is eager to start shooting for season three of his popular prime video series “Mirzapur”, in which he will play the favorite character of Dan Kaleen Bhaiya. Produced by Riteish Sidwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, “Mirzapur” is one of the biggest breakout Indian originals since its launch in 2018. The second season 2020 is one of the most watched shows in India.
Tripathi, who played the ruthless mafia Akanthanand ‘Kaleen’ Tripathi on the show, said he would quench his hunger for power through the show.
“I know the enthusiasm of the fans for this series is tremendous. We’ll dress up tomorrow and start shooting in a week.
“It’s a lot of fun to do this, the show and the character of Colleen Pia. In real life I am a powerless man, so I enjoy power only through Kaleen Pia. Everyone has a hunger for power. Satisfied with ‘Mirzapur’,” the actor told PTI.
Tripathi will see the theatrical release of filmmaker Sreejith Mukherjee’s ‘Shirt: The Philippine Saga’, which is set to open on June 24, before he lands on the much-anticipated Season Three. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and produced by Reliance Entertainment, the film stars 45-Kangaram, the father of a poor farming family living in misery and poverty for three consecutive seasons. He decides not to waste his death and adopts the infamous ‘tiger habit’ of leaving his life for his family to eat two square meals.
“One good day, he enters the woods and waits for his death. What happens next is a series of unprecedented and interesting events,” says the film’s official summary. Tripathi said his characters in “Mirzapur” and “Shirtil” were at opposite ends of the power structure.
“Kaleen Piya is powerful, but Kangaram is powerless. The two are completely different people. You will not notice Kangaram, you can not ignore Kaleena Piya.” “Shirt: The Philippine Saga” by Kulshan Kumar, D-Series Film and Reliance Entertainment.
