Mohammad Kaif, Amit Mishra react to BCCI’s announcement of increasing pension
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced an increase in the pension of retired cricketers. The five pension brackets of 15000, 22500, 30000, 37500 and 50000 have been increased to 30000, 45000, 52500, 60000 and 70000 respectively. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah informed about this news on Twitter.
Thank you BCCI, this means a lot to the retired players. My father, Mohammad Tarif, is always very happy when I get the pension. Money gives you security, identity makes you proud.
“I am happy to announce the increase in the monthly pension of former cricketers (men and women) and match officials. Around 900 personnel will avail this benefit and around 75% personnel will get the benefit of 100% increase,” Shah said. wrote on his Twitter handle.
Reacting to the news, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif, son of former India cricketer Tareef Kaif, lauded the BCCI’s decision to increase the pension. Kaif said that the move means a lot to the former cricketers.
Kaif wrote on Twitter, “Thank you BCCI, this means a lot to retired players. My father, Mohammad Tarif, is always very happy to get pension. Money gives security, identity makes you proud.”
In another tweet, Kaif said, “My father played 60 first-class games. Scored close to 3000 runs, scored 5 hundreds. His generation helped the game grow when there was no money. Remembering his contribution, BCCI Has shown a big heart.”

India cricketer Amit Mishra also reacted to this saying that it is a remarkable decision and many other boards will also follow it. “Wow, great decision by BCCI and Jayshah ji. A remarkable decision that will be followed by many foreign boards very soon,” Mishra wrote.
