New Delhi: Tollywood actor Nani’s ‘Dussehra’ is his first pan-Indian project and the team has spared no effort to make it unique.
Interestingly, the film’s writer-director Srikanth Odela, whose father was a laborer in the Singareni coal mines, brought in expert detail to the set and its intricacies, lending extra credibility to the story and scenes.
Re-creating the world of coal mining, a large complex was built on 25 acres. Apart from the main and supporting cast nearly 300 junior actors were on set every day and sometimes more than 2000 artistes and technicians filled the set on important days. It was shot for 120 days in the midst of dust and dirt, with most days being shot on a 24-hour schedule.
Also, a whole village set has been created with all the amenities for the film crew. Apart from that, this 25 acre area has created an entire world for ‘Dussehra’ and an elaborate railway track for trains to run.
Director Srikanth Odela says, “I wanted ‘Dussehra’ to be original and authentic and we are very excited to bring that authenticity to audiences across the country. A large set of newly built coal mine system, rural system, railway line. And thousands of artists and technicians will be on our busy set for days. We have created our own little world for Dussehra to give the audience an unforgettable cinematic experience.”
‘Dussehra’ takes the audience through the socio-economic status, political ambitions and power struggles of Singareni film crews. Stepping into the shoes of a bubbly Dharani driven by her ambition and love, South superstar Nani grapples with the village’s best kept secrets in this action-packed entertainer.
Produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri, ‘Dussehra’ stars Nani, Keerthy Suresh, Dixit Shetty, Shine Tom Chacko, Samuthirakani and Sai Kumar.
Written and directed by Srikanth Odela with music by Santhosh Narayanan and cinematography by Satyan Suryan ISK, the film will release nationwide on March 30.
