Optimism Token was attacked earlier this week when the team announced that 20 million OP tokens had been stolen. The attacker behind the theft returned 17 lakh tokens on Friday. For returning the tokens, the attacker was rewarded with 2 million tokens. The funds were returned during 17 transactions at an address belonging to the Ethereum rollup provider, Optimism.

Prior to the token’s withdrawal, the attacker sent an on-chain message to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin informing him of his intention to return the full 18 million OP in his possession.
