OTT debutante Kangana Ranaut opens the doors as host of 'Lock Upp'

NEW DELHI: After delivering several Bollywood hits, Kangana Ranaut is again grabbing everyone’s attention for her OTT debut with the fearless reality show ‘Lock Up’.

As she says: “A show of this production value and such magnitude and such scale has to be seen with maximum reach of people and as much as we can. OTT platforms are coming to India and especially The domestic and MX player have incredible reach, different gamut of audience and customers so does ALT. And they together decided to do it in a big way. I was game to him. “

When asked if the show will be a family watch, she replies: “Yes, it is definitely a family watch, but by family do you mean kids? I am not sure about that. But OTT’s The beauty is that it’s a very personal experience. You can put your headphones on and you can watch it with your partner, your girlfriend and if you have some comfort with your parents.”

“It’s something that can be enjoyed with like-minded people. And the nature of the show is such that a lot of controversial people are being put together in testing situations. So, no one really knows if it’s going to happen.” Where can it be found. But it’s going to be unpredictable. So, there’s no definite answer, yes or no. But at the same time I think one should see where it leads,” he adds says.

The show has many controversial people and it can be difficult at times to deal with them as a host. How will Kangana deal with him if he shows any disrespect towards her or creates drama?

The ‘Queen’ actress responds: “They are very controversial celebrities. And yes, some of them have been part of major controversies. Of course, when you go to fix them and if you just scratch the surface, they Get shaky. Get into full attacking mode and they don’t see who comes before it and it might as well be the host. In TV, they can pull off a showdown like this, but in digital I’m not going to take it off because that’s the nature of digital so I’m well aware that some of these celebrities are about to lose control.”

“And they’re going everywhere and some may even subject me to their volatile nature, some kind of anger. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do and I’m the host and I should have been the last.” words and I know how to take my place and I know how to, you know for lack of a better word, I know how to be ‘queen’.”

Going forward, Kangana responded by comparing her show to ‘Bigg Boss’ and like ‘Bigg Boss’ has recently been blamed for favoring some contestants, ‘Lock Up’ will also have some of her favourites. .

Kangana says: “Watch ‘Bigg Boss’ and there are all TV shows and there are contestants on them. We are not talking about contestants here, we are talking about ‘prisoners’ and they are in jail. I’ll have the last word and choose the winner.”

She adds on whether that would be her favorite: “Yeah, of course it’s human nature to resonate with some and not resonate with some people. But it won’t affect my decision. I’m one I am a very purposeful person. And I think the winner should be someone who might not be the definition of winners that we have seen in reality shows so far.”

“But someone who is out there and knows how to deal with life, who is spontaneous, who is fun and at the same time innocent and pure. This is going to be the winner of ‘Lock Up Season 1’ and I am sure I favor such a person and such a person will be my favorite too. The winner will be the one I love,” she says.

Kangana is quite vocal about nepotism and has talked about it in the promo as well. But the show’s producer Ekta Kapoor, who is the daughter of popular Bollywood actor Jeetendra, has often tried to make her way in the industry without naming her father, how does Kangana react to this and if she agrees?

And she says: “Well, people come with advantages and disadvantages in every situation. I’ve said that nepotism is not the issue here. We can’t stop people from doing what they want to do. Unity is their real thing. Father’s name, fame, glory, his wealth, in every way and no one can deny it and it should not be anyone’s concern, right? I mean, why should anyone object to that ?

“But the problem with the film industry is not that they pass on their wealth, whether it’s name, fame or property, to the children. No, the problem I face was actually I was bullied in the film industry, and every Somebody has I saw that I was openly told to leave the film industry in national newspapers.”

“I was told please leave the film industry. He said, ‘This is not for you’ and you know, all that. So, there have been public demonstrations where people have told me I’m not here. I was mine. I was mocked for English, mocked for coming from the mountains. My journey through my journey, I have seen that.”

“But I have never seen Ekta being part of a bully gang. She worked with me in my early years. She gave me my first A-lister project. So for me, I have a lot of respect for her. And of course , She’s come on her own and she’s very, very successful as a woman and a producer. She inspires me and I hold back. I always tell her how you should be if you grew up, Its prototype you are in privileged families,” the actress shared on her bond with Ekta Kapoor.

Lastly, Kangana talks about her upcoming film ‘The Avatar – Sita’ in which she will portray the mythological character and if she would like to work in the sequel of ‘The Dirty Picture’ as it was rumored that she opted out of being a part of it. was denied. This.

“I don’t think I am doing a film called ‘The Avatar – Sita’ and keeping people’s sentiments in mind and not complicating things for professional gain. I just want to stay away for the sake of emotions. People and more because I do my everything in one go and ‘Avatar – Sita’ is something that means a lot to me. I think it’s a blessing and ‘Dirty Picture 2’, knowing its name Turns out it has erotica quality to it. If it gets made it will be huge, but honestly I don’t think I’m the right person for it now. So, I’ll let it pass,” she concluded.
