PAK vs ENG 2nd T20I: Babar Azam’s century, became the second fastest player to score 8,000 runs in T20, how far he is from Virat Kohli, see here
Pakistan captain Babar Azam scored a scintillating T20I century on Thursday night, his second in international cricket in this format. He was nervous initially but soon he started opening his shots and dominated with bat in hand. On his way to smashing, he achieved another milestone, becoming the second fastest batsman in world cricket after West Indies legend Chris Gayle to reach 8,000 T20 runs. Babar completed a total of 8,000 runs in the 218-innings format. This is something of an achievement for Babar, who has been battling for runs for a long time. He had a bad time in the Asia Cup 2022 but here Babar has answered his critics with a brilliant innings in Karachi.
Babar, however, has some catches in terms of coming on par with Indian great Virat Kohli, who has scored 10,904 runs in 333 T20I innings. Even Indian captain Rohit Sharma is well ahead of Babar by scoring 10481 runs in 383 innings. Pakistan’s middle order batsman Shoaib Malik has scored 11902 runs in 447 innings. Gayle still remains the highest T20 run-scorer, scoring 14562 runs in 455 innings.
