“There is no announcement or decision yet on extending the IPL window. I will give my opinion on the issue at the ICC conference,” Raja said during a media conference here on Friday.
“My point is clear: if there is any development in world cricket, which means we are being shortchanged, we will challenge it very vehemently and make a strong point at the ICC,” he said.
The decision to officially challenge the PCB’s decision had BCCI secretary Jay Shah, in an exclusive interview to PTI, said that the Indian board would get an extended window for the IPL in the next FTP cycle of the ICC, starting from 2024 to 2031.
“From the next FTP cycle, IPL will have an official window of two and a half months so that all top international cricketers can participate. We have discussed with various boards as well as the ICC,” Shah told PTI. ,
Raja also said that while Pakistan is keen to play India, the political equation between the neighbors is still acting as a hindrance.
Raja said, “I have spoken to Sourav (Ganguly) on this other than and I told him that currently three former cricketers are leading their cricket boards and if they can’t make a difference then who will?”
He said, “Ganguly invited me twice to participate in the IPL final last year and it made sense to go cricket this year, but then, due to the situation, we had to look at the consequences of accepting the invitation. ”
