Putin rejects 'good faith' efforts of US, allies to address mutual security concerns through dialogue: winks at Ukraine crisis - Times of India

Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected the “good faith” efforts of the United States and its allies to address Washington’s mutual security concerns through dialogue and avoid unnecessary conflict and human suffering, Foreign Minister Antony said. Blinken said that the U.S. Sanctions on Putin and three members of Russia’s Security Council for the Ukraine crisis.
“We stand united with our allies and partners to ensure that the Russian government will pay a serious economic and diplomatic price for its further invasion of Ukraine, a sovereign and democratic state,” the US State Department said in a readout. ”
“In coordination with allies and partners, we are directly responsible for Ukraine’s further aggression on President Putin and three members of Russia’s Security Council: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu, and First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov,” it added.
According to the US Department, the Treasury Department has nominated Putin and Foreign Minister Lavrov. In the same action, the State Department designated Shoigu and Gerasimov pursuant to EO 14024 Section 1(a)(i) because these individuals are determined to operate or operate in the defense and related material sector of the Russian economy. .
The US Treasury has already nominated eleven members to the Russian Security Council, and we will consider nominating more in the future if Russia does not stop its unprovoked campaign against Ukraine, the statement said.
“We will continue to coordinate closely with partners and allies to impose dire consequences on Russia for the war against Ukraine. Several months of sustained diplomacy with partners and allies at all levels coordinated our aims, resolutions and measures. Solidarity has to be felt deeply in Russia, especially those most responsible for Russia’s hostile actions against its neighbours, including the architects of this war,” it added.
Notably, early on Thursday Russia launched a special military operation following the recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk.
Western countries have strongly condemned the Russian military operation and increased sanctions pressure on Moscow.
