'Ranbir Kapoor wanted to be Amitabh Bachchan and SRK when he was growing up but ...'

New Delhi: Actor Ranbir Kapoor is playing a bigger hero than life with action entertainer Shamsher. The producers dropped the trailer a few days ago and fans fell in love with it, wanting their favorite actor’s acting chops along with Sanjay Dutt’s villainous performance. The never-before-seen incarnation of Ranbir and the anticipation to see him skyrocket.

In the second episode of a three-episode candid video series titled ‘RK Tapes’, Ranbir talks about his favorite Hindi film heroes and how they have shaped his perception over the years! Says the superstar, “I wanted to be Amitabh Bachchan, and when I grew up, I wanted to be Shah Rukh Khan! Finally, I had to be Ranbir Kapoor.”

Watch Ranbir speak straight from his heart in the second episode – ‘The Hindi Film Hero’ here:

Ranbir says, “Hindi film heroes became my real-life heroes as I grew up. Everything I did, how I dressed, how I spoke, subconsciously everything I did was inspired by my heroes. But strangely, when I became an actor, I didn’t choose films that my heroes choose. So I may have satisfied the actor in me, but when I look back at that 12-year-old obsessed with Hindi film hero Ranbir, I feel like he still has to fulfill his dream.

Shamsher, played by Ranbir, is centered in the fictional city of Gaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by the ruthless dictator General Shud Singhal. It is the story of a man who became a slave, a legend to his tribe after a slave became a leader. He is constantly fighting for the freedom and dignity of his tribe. His name is Shamshera.

A high-octane, adrenaline-pumping entertainer set in central India in the 1800s. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Shamsher in the film, has a big promise never seen before! Sanjay Dutt plays Ranbir’s arch enemy in this huge cast conspiracy and his confrontation with Ranbir is something to watch out for as they follow each other harshly.

Produced by Aditya Chopra, this action blockbuster is slated to release on July 22, 2022 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
