New Delhi: Choreographer and director Remo D’Souza recently shared that he was called by names like ‘Kalia’ and ‘Kalu’ for his skin colour, which impressed him a lot as he hated it. In an Instagram post, Remo said that he dealt with name-calling by remembering his mother’s advice.
She revealed that her mother would tell her that it is not the color but the heart that matters and that she would sing Mohammed Rafi’s song ‘Hum Kale Hai To Kya Hua Dil Wale Hai’ from the 1965 film Gumnaam.
Along with the video of her lip-syncing the song, she wrote, “I used to hate it when ppl called me #Kalia #Kalu but then my mom told me it’s not #Rang, it’s #Dil What matters and uses. Sing this song, since then it’s become my favorite song. Now I sing this song to @lizelleremodsouza.”

On the work front, Remo will be returning after 11 years in the popular dance reality show Dance India Dance. He will be seen as a judge in Dance India Dance Little Masters Season 5.
On the personal front, the famous dancer lost her dear brother-in-law Jason Watkins due to suicide. Jason Watkins died of suicide in January this year at his Yamuna Nagar residence in Andheri, Mumbai. After his untimely demise, Remo posted a picture with Jason Watkins on Instagram and wrote, “You broke our hearts bro, hope you finally find peace.”
