Rishabh Pant is overweight and heavy, former Pak cricketer slams India captain
India captain Rishabh Pant is currently struggling for runs in the ongoing T20 series in South Africa. With a series of low scores in the five-match series, Pant has been criticized by former cricketers and experts. Sunil Gavaskar feels that Pant is not learning from his mistakes and is finding it difficult to play the ball outside the off-stump line as he loses his balance. Former Pakistan leg-spinner has joined the criticism of Danish Kaneria, who has now pointed out weaknesses in his wicketkeeping skills. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaneria criticized Pant’s fitness and said that he is overweight and his heavy body does not allow him to sit well which ultimately affects his keeping.
“I want to talk about Pant’s wicketkeeping. I have noticed one thing – when a fast bowler is bowling he doesn’t sit down and sits on his toes. It looks like he is overweight. And being heavy, he doesn’t get that much time to come early. This creates concern over his fitness. Is he 100 percent fit? But when it comes to his captain, bowlers and batsmen including Hardik and Karthik Has backed him well. Pant also has a chance to become the captain in the first T20I series win against South Africa,” Kaneria said.

At the same time, Kaneria praised India’s ‘finishers’ Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik. He said that Karthik and Pandya were the reason why India struggled to reach 169 in the beginning. He said that it was Karthik’s day and he used his ability well and he batted with maturity. He also said that Hardik showed a lot of maturity with the bat, starting with caution and hitting big shots at the end playing the gem of an innings.
After losing the first two games, India managed to get two wins in a row. Now the series will be decided on Sunday (June 19) in Bengaluru. The winner of Sunday’s decider will take the trophy with him. The match will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and will start at 7 PM IST.
