Los Angeles: Actors Will Smith, Jessica Chastain and “Coda” took home the highest honors this year at the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards held at the Santa Monica Barker Hangar. In compliance with California COVID Protocol, all SAG Awards attendees were required to show proof of vaccination to attend the ceremony.

As a result, “Yellowstone” star Forie Jay Smith, who was nominated along with her cast in the television drama ensemble category, announced last week that she would be pulling out of the ceremony, reports Variety.com.

The television categories were led by “Succession” and “Ted Lasso”, both of which received five nominations, including Best Ensemble in the respective drama and comedy categories.

Korean hit “Squid Game” made history with an ensemble nomination as the first non-English show to be recognized by the Guild.

On the film side, “The Power of the Dog” led the individual acting categories with three nominations, but the Jane Campion-directed film didn’t crack the ensemble category. The most recognized nominees for the ensemble cast were “House of Gucci,” which saw individual nominations for Lady Gaga and Jared Leto.

“Koda”‘s Troy Kotsur, Daniel Durant and Marlee Matlin are the first deaf actors to be recognized in the motion picture ensemble category, and Kotsur is the first deaf artist to receive an individual acting nomination.

During the ceremony, Kate Winslet presented the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award to cine-icon Helen Mirren.

‘Koda’ took home an outstanding performance by an artist in a motion picture. It competed with films like ‘Belfast’, ‘Don’t Look Up’, ‘House of Gucci’ and ‘King Richard’.

Will Smith and Jessica Chastain were nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for “King Richard” and “The Eyes of Tammy Fey”, respectively.

For Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series, actor Michael Keaton’s performance of ‘Dopesic’ was recognized.

While Kate Winslet won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for The Mayor of Easttown.

“Succession” beat “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “The Morning Show”, “Squid Game” and “Yellowstone” in Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in the Drama Series category.

“Squid Game” stars Jung Ho-yeon and Lee Jung-jae were nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female and Male Actor in a Drama Series section.

Sports comedy drama show “Ted Lasso” won the award for Best Comedy Series at the 2022 SAG Awards on Sunday. Its lead role, Jason Sudeikis, was named Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

For Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series, Gene Smart won the honor for ‘Hacks’, beating Elle Fanning, Sandra Oh, Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham.

Hollywood actress Ariana DeBos won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for ‘West Side Story’ at the 2022 SAG Awards. She was nominated alongside Caitriona Balfe, Cate Blanchett, Kirsten Dunst and Ruth Nega. The award marked DeBose’s first nomination and victory.

Competing with shows like ‘Cobra Kai’, ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, ‘Loki’ and ‘Mare of Easttown’, Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’ won Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series.
