Describing Mithali Raj as ‘truly a legend’, actor Taapsee Pannu recalled the cricketer’s contribution the day she announced her retirement and said that she had ‘changed the game of cricket where women concerned were present’. “There are cricketers who have records. There are cricketers who have tremendous fan following. There are cricketers who inspire you and make you believe that if they can do it then you can! And then there is Mithali who did it all in her classic graceful style and also changed the game of cricket where women’s presence is concerned,” she said.
Taapsee, who will be seen essaying the role of Mithali Raj in “Shabaash Mithu”, says she is fortunate to have a chance to live her glorious 23-year journey as a fan. “She will be remembered for her contribution to women’s cricket not only in our country but across the world. I’ve been very fortunate as a fan to have some time on camera to live out my glorious 23-year journey that taught me a lot about resilience and perseverance. He is truly a legend we can never thank enough,” Taapsee said.
Taapsee also paid tribute to her by sharing a picture with Mithali on social media. Mithali Raj, who made her India debut in 1999, announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket on Wednesday.
