Taapsee’s ‘Topara’ is the only Indian film to be screened at Fantasia Film Festival
New Delhi: Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Topara’ is making headlines with every drop. The film will be screened as one of the main attractions at the Fantasia Film Festival. The new-age thriller drama is the only Indian film to be screened among the many Korean, Spanish and Japanese films being screened at the world’s biggest genre film festival.
The Fantasia International Film Festival celebrates its 26th anniversary in Montreal this summer, running from July 14 to August 3, with its Frontiers International Co-Production Market running from July 21 to 24.
Prior to this, ‘Topara’ was first screened at the London Film Festival 2022 and the film with its concept was well appreciated by the global audience. The screening was attended by a star cast including Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati.
Based on the Spanish film ‘Miraj’, the film stars Taapsee Pannu and Pavil Gulati in lead roles. It is scheduled for a worldwide release on August 19, 2022.
In February 2021, Topsy and Anurag took to social media to share the announcement video for the film. He shared the video, “Time. Space. Universe. 2021 will make you question everything. Shooting begins soon! @Anuragkashyap It’s time to add some lights and colors to your frame again, let’s do it #DOBAARAA.”
Anurag wrote, “See what happens when you time travel through the dimensions of the universe. Shooting starts soon! #Dobaaraa.”
‘Dobaaraa’ is directed by acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap and produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta R Kapoor (a new division Cult Movies under Balaji Telefilms) and Sunir Khedarpal and Gaurav Bose (Athena).
