LOS ANGELES: The US Supreme Court’s decision to rescind the historic Ro V Wade abortion right in the 50th year has drawn widespread criticism from American celebrities.
Giving voice to the majority view in the entertainment industry, pop star Taylor Swift tweeted: “I’m so scared that we’re here – people have been fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies for decades, and today that decision has been taken away from us.”
In a detailed response, Padma Lakshmi, a culinary presenter and writer, said: “People will still have abortions. These practices will not stop as Row We Wade turns upside down. This will prevent safe, legal abortions from taking place.”
He added: “The right to decide when to start a family is a choice that every individual can make at their own time and in accordance with their rules. This freedom and dignity is something we must all fight to protect.
“I want many to understand that the decision to have an abortion is deeply personal and complex. It is a decision that should be made with compassion and sympathy, not slander or guilt.”
Award-winning actress Haryana Debose: “Yes, no one told me what I could & could not do with my body. For that, no one told me who I should love or marry. America .. .You are in the struggle of your life. ”
Oscar-winning actress Patricia Arquette was equally undoubted. He said: “This Supreme Court is a complete disaster. From granting people the right to carry guns to seizing women’s autonomy over their own bodies. We did not react, we saw it coming.”
But the last word certainly belongs to the best-selling author Stephen King. He tweeted: “This is the best Supreme Court ever created in the 19th century.”
