‘We have to win the UCL:’ Guardiola ahead of final against Inter Milan
Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 to win the Premier League on Sunday, with team manager Pep Guardiola saying after the victory they would have to win the UEFA Champions League to be “regarded as one of the greatest sides ever”.
Manchester City added another feat to their cap at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday as it is the fifth time in six years they have won the Premier League title. Sky Sports quoted Pep Guardiola as saying after the match, “I have the feeling that we have done something extraordinary. It is something extraordinary. People know how extraordinary it is.”
Manchester City were already on course to be crowned champions after Arsenal lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
“We pushed Arsenal forward but they are exceptional. They should be proud of where they come from. They have to keep it up, that’s the reality, but for me they are winners. With Mikel (Arsenal manager) I have Congratulations to the relationship for what they have done. They have put them back to what Arsenal were in the past,” Guardiola commented on Arsenal’s Premier League run this season.
“But to be considered one of the greatest, we have to win the (UEFA) Champions League, otherwise it is not complete. You have to win the Champions League in Europe, being considered one of the best teams like Manchester United or Liverpool.” But it’s also unfair to say that the Premier League means nothing if you don’t win it.”
Manchester City would like to complete the treble this season. After winning the Premier League, Manchester City will be hoping to win the FA Cup final against Manchester United on 3 June. Then the final test will come on June 11, when Manchester City face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final. ,
