Wimbledon 2022 organizers announce big prize money for winners, see here
Wimbledon on Thursday (9 June) announced a total of £40.3 million in prize money for this year’s tournament. Organizers announced on Thursday that the men’s and women’s singles champions would win £2 million. After the cancellation of the 2020 edition, the All England Lawn Tennis Club is all set for the Grand Slam event in 2022.
The 2020 edition of the tournament was cancelled, while 2021 was held with fewer spectators. This year’s Wimbledon will see crowds attending the tournament at full capacity for the first time in three years since 2019.
“From the first round of the qualifying competition to the crowning champions, this year’s prize money distribution aims to demonstrate how important players are to the championship as we continue to be one of the world’s premier sporting events, And in an official statement released by Wimbledon accompanied by a “special tournament ahead of us to celebrate the 100 years of Center Court at Church Road,” All England Club President Ian Hewitt said.
